instagram.com/mikeydowdle/ About this project: Back in December 2024 I attempted to create a full music video for Pink Floyd by myself in less than 4 weeks. I (sorta) succeeded but also completely failed. I created...something. But I kind of fucking hated it a little bit (I tried to animate nearly 3 minutes in 4 weeks, what did I expect?). Because of this I decided to work into it some more in my free time until I was happier with it, until I got to a point where I could finally say "I can’t be arsed to work on this damn music video anymore". But really I did slave over this in any spare time I could find between client projects (which can be tough), and working on something like this has been a longtime goal of mine, so I'm so pleased with it - flaws and all. Themes: The song is Breathe by Pink Floyd, which I interpreted through the lyrics as a cautionary tale of not letting your pursuits and ambitions overcome you. Well, ironically, I did spend the small amount of free time I have on this earth to create this and almost reached burnout...maybe I should've listened to the message in lyrics more. But really it has been such a worthwhile challenge creating a full music video as a solo creative and probably my biggest and most ambitious passion project to date. It was a great learning experience of storytelling, design, character rigging, character animation, efficiency and many other lessons all in one.
